Screenshot Upscaler - Make Low-Resolution Screenshots Crisp

Screen captures are made of hard edges, and a plain resize turns them into mush. Upload one, enlarge it to 2x or 4x, and compare the text and borders at full size. Saving it as PNG first is best; see the PNG upscaler for format details.

Screen Capture Fit

Use this page when a screenshot is too small for where it is going

A screenshot is a different kind of image from a photo. It is full of straight lines, flat color, and small text, and every one of those punishes a sloppy resize. This page is for the common case: a capture that looked fine on your screen but is too small for the slide, document, or listing.

Best For

The jobs this page is built to handle well

  • Screenshots that need to fill a slide, a help article, or a case study
  • Captures taken on a small window or a low-resolution display
  • App and website images that must look sharper on a high-density screen

Choose Another Page When

These jobs usually need a different workflow

  • Tiny text that must be read exactly, such as legal or financial figures
  • Captures that are already large and only need cropping or a new export
Best input

A PNG screenshot with readable text and clear edges

Typical output

A 2x or 4x copy with cleaner edges and smoother curves

Always verify

Small text and numbers against the original capture

Next Step

Prove it on the screenshot that has the smallest text

Upload the hardest screenshot first. If the text and borders stay clean at the size you need, the rest of the set will follow.

What matters when you enlarge a screen capture

Clean edges, readable text, and a file that fits the slide or page you are filling, without a visible resize blur.

Screenshot Guide

How to enlarge a screenshot without ruining the text

Enlarging a screenshot is mostly about protecting edges. The tool you pick matters less than how you capture, what format you save, and how you check the result, so this guide covers all three before you run anything.

Capture at the highest resolution you can

The best fix for a small screenshot is a bigger capture. If you can, take it again on a high-density display, with the window maximized or the browser zoomed in. Upscaling adds pixels, but a native capture starts with real ones.

When you cannot retake it, such as an old bug report or someone else’s image, upscale the file you have. Use the original PNG rather than a copy that was already compressed in a chat app, because compression noise around text gets enlarged along with everything else.

  • Retake the capture on a high-density screen if you can
  • Zoom the app or browser before you capture
  • Use the original file, not a chat-app copy

Prefer PNG for anything with text

PNG keeps sharp edges exactly, while JPG blurs them with compression. A screenshot saved as JPG already has halos around letters, and enlarging it makes those halos bigger. If a JPG is all you have, expect to see some of that noise in the result.

Upload as PNG when you can and export as PNG too. Reserve JPG or WebP for the final delivery copy when file size matters, and make that copy last so it is the only lossy step.

Know what the model does to small text

An AI model rebuilds edges, and for large clear text it does a good job. For very small text it may redraw a letter or a digit slightly differently from the original. That is fine for a slide or a tutorial but risky for an invoice, a contract, or a table of numbers.

Compare any text that carries meaning against the original capture, character by character. If the content must be exact, publish the original or retype the text instead of relying on a reconstruction.

Choose the scale for the destination

Slides and documents usually look right at 2x. Use 4x when the screenshot will be shown very large, such as a hero image or a printed poster. Bigger is not always better, because pushing the scale further gives the model more room to invent detail.

Check the result at the final size, then at 100 percent zoom for text and icon edges. When a straight line looks wavy or a rounded corner looks lumpy, go back to a smaller scale. Keep the original capture next to the enlarged copy.

  • Start with 2x for slides and documents
  • Use 4x only for very large displays or print
  • Check straight lines and icon corners at 100 percent

How to Use Screenshot Upscaler

Upscale your images in 3 simple steps

1
1

Upload the original screenshot

Choose the PNG or the least-compressed copy, up to 10MB. Avoid copies that went through a chat app.

2
2

Pick 2x, then check the text

Run 2x first. Zoom to 100 percent and check small text, thin lines, and icon corners before you try 4x.

3
3

Download and compare with the original

Keep the enlarged copy for slides, docs, and listings. Verify any text that carries meaning against the original.
